- Make a list of things you would like to do, but haven’t had time to do. Don’t just include things you didn’t want to do, because this new hire probably won’t want to do those things either
- Talk to teammates about what they have long wanted to have seen get done
- Look ahead to the needs of the next year—where is the company heading?
- What are the projects that require deep investment but could produce step-function increases in results?
